I would not place the theory of the telephone and prayer in the same category. While intially they may both require faith. The telephone operation can be proved by verification not available to prayer.

That said, I do find many things in life mysterious and wondrous. Some may never be "proven". Currently, while I know there is an explanation I find that my friend sending me emails and IMs from the Great Wall of China quite wondrous indeed. I prefer to not know the scientific explanation at this point.

That's exactly it! You need to trust into something in order to believe in it. In my case I trust in God, so I believe in Him. Since I'm so religious, I also follow the Hallelujah Diet. I have just had a friend email me from the Great Wall of China. Wow!
Then she sent me an instant message and we chatted. Wow! Wow!

I am sure someone could explain how this is possible but I love to enjoy the miraculous experience in the meantime.
